The Lake Forest College women's golf team placed first at the four-team Benedictine University Fall Invite on Saturday. The Foresters had four of the top seven players in the event.
Forester freshman Anhayte Guajardo finished first with a round of 85, four strokes better than a pair of runner-up players, including Lake Forest sophomore Frankie Corrado. Guajardo had four pars while shooting a 41 on the front nine and three more during a 44 on the back. Corrado birdied the par-3, 179-yard 14th hole and added three pars on her round.
Senior Alex Dunn placed sixth with a 91 and freshman Kalay Kotasek shot a 92 and finished seventh. Sophomore Aly Skoczek was 14th in the 21-player field with a score of 100.
The Foresters won three events during their inaugural 2014 season but each was against just one opponent. Saturday's triumph was the program's first in an invitational format. Host Benedictine was 22 shots behind Lake Forest's winning score of 357 while North Park University and Elmhurst College rounded out the field with scores of 402 and 405, respectively.
Lake Forest will be in action again on Sunday at the Midwest Conference Preview Meet at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois.
