The Forester women's golf team placed 14th at the Shootout on the Border over the weekend. Freshman Kalay Kotasek led Lake Forest with a two-day score of 171.
Kalay finished in a tie for 25th place out of the event's 89 competitors. She had the Foresters' best round on Friday with an 85 and her 86 on Saturday ranked second on the squad.
Lake Forest's best round of the weekend was turned in by senior Alex Dunn on Saturday. She needed just 83 strokes to complete the course, a dozen fewer than her Friday score. Dunn's two-day total was second on the team tied-for-48th overall. Sophomore Frankie Corrado carded rounds of 91 and 95 to place tied-for-64th and freshman Sophia Lane placed 77th after posting rounds of 97 and 98.
Host Carthage College won the tournament with a two-day score of 635, 17 strokes better than runner-up St. Xavier University. Hope College was third with 656.
The Foresters will be back in action next weekend at the Benedictine Fall Invite. Play at St. Andrew's Golf Club in West Chicago, Illinois, is scheduled to begin at 10:00 Friday and Saturday morning.
