Lake Forest College's Ian Pichel was named Northern College Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring four goals in the team's 7-1 victory on Saturday.
Pichel, a senior forward and one of the team's assistant captains, recorded a natural hat trick in the opening period as the Foresters jumped out to a 3-0 lead. He started the scoring at the 4:02 mark, doubled the home team's lead at 9:24, and converted a power play opportunity at 14:46. With the Foresters ahead 5-1, he tacked on an additional insurance goal, his ninth score of the season, at 12:17 in the third period.
Pichel is the first Lake Forest player in nearly 26 years and the 15th in program history to score four times in a game. He had just one multi-goal performance prior to Saturday, a two-score afternoon at Adrian College on February 15, 2014.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of public relation and sports information.
