Despite the first career goal by freshman forward Bron Loiselle, the Forester men's hockey team was defeated 3-1 at St. Norbert College Friday night. The same two teams will face off again in Lake Forest on Saturday.
Loiselle gave the visitors the early lead at 5:32 in the opening period. He was assisted by fellow freshman forward John Nugent.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 12-4 but trailed 1-0 at the end of the first period. The Green Knights also had a 14-3 edge in shots on goal in the second period and tied the game at the 5:00 mark. The home team took the lead at 3:09 in the third and added an insurance score at 15:38. The Foresters were outshot 38-14 on the night.
Lake Forest junior goaltender Billy Cooper made 35 saves in his first appearance of the year.
The Foresters are now 1-2-0, both overall and in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play, this season. St. Norbert, the 11th-ranked team in the nation, improved to 2-1-0 overall and in the league.
Lake Forest will host the Green Knights in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night at 7:00.
