The Forester men's basketball team hosted and defeated Knox College 82-52 on Saturday and is now 2-2 in Midwest Conference games. Forester freshman forward Jim Schick shot 6-for-6 from the field and scored a career-high 13 points in the contest.
Schick also pulled down four rebounds and had a pair of steals in 19 minutes of play. He was one of three Foresters to score in double figures. Senior guard James Stack led the squad with 16 points, including seven in as many attempts from the foul line. Junior forward Brian Madson added 10 points and led all players in the game with seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Freshman guard Josh Irving fnished with five points, six rebounds, and a game-high five assists in just 13 minutes.
Lake Forest shot nearly 52 percent from the field, out-rebounded the Prairie Fire 43-29, and recorded a season-high 11 steals.
The Foresters jumped out to a 9-2 lead and later used a 14-3 run to extend their advantage to 14 points. The margin grew to as many as 17 points in the first half, which ended with the home team ahead 40-27.
Lake Forest scored the first 13 points of the second half and held Knox scoreless for the first six-and-a-half minutes of the period. The lead fluctuated between 24 and 33 points the rest of the way.
The Foresters are now 4-5 overall on the season. Knox fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Lake Forest will host Beloit College Tuesday evening at 5:30.
