The Forester men's basketball team was defeated 67-51 at Carroll University on Tuesday in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams. Sophomore guard Austin Terry led Lake Forest with 13 points.
Terry was 5-for-8 from the field and made a pair of three-pointers in five attempts. Sophomore forward Torrey Davis was next on the team with 11 points and freshman giard Andrew Toth added eight.
Carroll pulled away with a 13-2 run late in the opening period and took a 35-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Foresters trimmed the deficit to 10 points on a Toth three-pointer with 15:17 to play but would get no closer.
The visitors shot just 37 percent from the floor in the contest while Carroll connected on 59.1 percent of field goal attempts. The home team also had a 30-24 edge in rebounds and the Foresters committed 14 of the game's 27 turnovers.
Lake Forest is now 1-3 overal while the Pioneers raised their record to 2-1.
The Foresters will continue league play at Ripon College Saturday afternoon at 3:00.
