Lake Forest College's Danny Baker and Logan Persson were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday for their performance during the Foresters' 28-6 Midwest Conference championship-clinching victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday.
Baker made a game-high 13 tackles in the contest, including two behind the line of scrimmage. The junior safety also recorded two pass breakups and forced a fumble on the Maroons' final possession of the game. A key contributor on special teams as well as defense, Baker downed a third quarter punt at the Chicago 1-yardline.
Persson punted eight times for a total of 326 yards on the day, averaging 40.8 yards per attempt. Two of his boots were downed inside the 10-yardline and Chicago was only able to return two of the other six attempts for a combined 10 yards. His longest punt of the afternoon was 51 yards.
The victory also secured a spot for the Foresters in the 2021 NCAA Division III Playoffs and they will travel to Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, for Saturday's opening round.
Persson's appearance on the D3football.com Team of the Week was the first of his career while Baker was also recognized for his work on special teams on October 12.
