Junior A.J. Jackson has been named the men's Forester Athlete of the Week for his performance in Lake Forest's game against Illinois College on Saturday.
The Forester wide receiver returned two of the Blueboys' punts for touchdowns, both scores coming within two minutes of each other. He returned the first punt 50 yards, leaping over a defender on his way to the endzone. Jackson then out ran the Illinois College coverage team for 65 yards to return the second punt. These two plays earned Jackson the distinction of being the first Forester and third Midwest Conference player to score two punt-return touchdowns in a game. He now also holds the league record for punt return touchdowns with six; he achieved this feat in only 17 games.
Jackson also had an additional 18-yard punt return and a 3-yard touchdown run in the game.
The Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the Athletic Department on Tuesdays.
