On Sunday the College Football America 2021 Yearbook released the NCAA Division III Preseason Starting Lineup on Sunday and, for the second year in a row, Lake Forest College's A.J. Jackson was listed as the punt returner.
Jackson, a junior, is already the Foresters' career leader in punt return yards (589), average (23.6), and touchdowns (4) after just 13 games. He led the nation with 22.5 yards per punt return, three punt return touchdowns, and 939 combined kick return yards as a freshman in 2019 before returning five punts a combined 140 yards with another score last spring.
Jackson was D3football.com's First Team All-American kick returner in each of his first two years. He was also a First Team All-Midwest Conference honoree at returner and wide receiver after leading the league in all-purpose yards in 2019. No All-MWC teams were selected in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
