Persson and Stewart Named MWC Performers of the Week

Lake Forest College football players Logan Persson and Tre Stewart were named Midwest Conference Special Teams and Offensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on Monday. Both players helped lead the Foresters to a league title-clinching 28-6 victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday.

Persson punted a season-high eight times and averaged 40.8 yards per attempt in the contest. The junior a first quarter attempt downed at the Chicago 7-yardline and a third quarter punt stopped at the 1. The Maroons were able to return just two of his attempts a combined 10 yards. Persson is now averaging 38.6 yards per punt on the season.

Stewart completed 11 of 16 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown while adding 64 yards and another score on the ground. After the Maroons closed to within 15 points with a fourth quarter touchdown, the junior signal-caller put the game out of reach with a 69-yard sprint to the end zone. His quarterback efficiency rating of 165.7 this fall is the best mark in the MWC and ranks 22nd in the country.

The Foresters finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 overall record and 9-0 mark in the league. Saturday's victory also secured their spot in the NCAA Division III Playoffs and they will play at Saint John's University in the first round on Saturday.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Lake Forest has had at least one of the league's three honorees each of the last six weeks.
