The Forester women's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory at Illinois College and a 7-2 triumph at Monmouth College on Saturday. Seniors Grace Dowling and Christi Valicenti were each unbeaten on the day.
The Foresters' top doubles team began the day with an 8-4 victory at Illinois College, giving the visitors a 3-0 advantage going into singles play. Freshmen Billie Rodman and Allison Watts had already blanked their opponents 8-0 at #2 and junior Zoe Maurer and freshman Tricia Paterakos also won without losing a game at #3.
Watts and Paterakos finished off 6-0, 6-1 victories at #4 and #6 singles, respectively, to clinch the team win. Maurer won 6-0, 6-3 at #5 and one game in the first set was all Dowling lost at #3. The winning score for Rodman at #1 and Valicenti at #2 was 6-1, 6-2.
Lake Forest took two of three doubles matches at Monmouth in the afternoon. Rodman and Watts prevailed 8-4 at #2 while Valicenti and Dowling were victorious 8-2 at #1.
Valicenti was the first to finish in singles, taking the first set 6-0 and the second 6-1 at #2. Paterakos triumphed 6-4, 6-0 at #6 and Maurer's 6-1, 6-0 win at #5 clinched the Forester victory. Dowling finished off a 6-0, 6-2 win at #3 and Rodman took both sets 6-1 at the top spot in the lineup.
The Foresters are now 7-1 overall this season and 5-1 in Midwest Conference play. Illinois College fell to 1-4 overall with three losses in as many league matches. Monmout is now 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Lake Forest will continue its southern trip with another MWC match at Knox College Sunday morning at 9:00.
