The Foresters women's tennis team hosted and defeated Beloit College 9-0 on Wednesday in the first Midwest Conference match of the season. Lake Forest freshman Allison Watts was one of two players to win every game in doubles and single play.
Watts and fellow freshman Bobbie Rodman won 8-0 at #2 doubles to begin the match and seniors Christi Valicenti and Grace Dowling prevailed by the same score at #1. Senior Emily Rabin and freshman Tricia Paterakos were nearly as dominant at #1, posting an 8-1 victory.
Watts and Valicenti started singles play with matching 6-0, 6-0 decisions at #4 and #2, respectively. Rodman followed with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the top spot in the lineup and Dowling took both sets at #2 by the same 6-1 score. Junior Zoe Maurer blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #5 and Paterakos closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #6.
The Foresters are now 3-0 overall this season while Beloit fell to 1-4. It was the league opener for both teams.
Lake Forest will continue conference play on the road this weekend. The team will travel to Ripon College for a 9:00 match Saturday morning and to St. Norbert College for a match-up with the defending MWC champions at 2:30 p.m. The Foresters will also play at Lawrence University Sunday morning at 9:00.
