Lake Forest College women's hockey player Maeve Connelly was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring a pair of game-winning goals against UW-Eau Claire over the weekend.
Connelly, a sophomore forward, scored her second goal of the season with five minutes to play to give the Foresters a 3-1 lead Friday night. The home team held on for a 3-2 victory, giving Connelly her first career game-winning goal.
The wait for Connelly's next game-winner was less than 24 hours. She broke a 1-1 tie early in the third period Saturday afternoon. Lake Forest kept the Blugolds off the scoreboard the rest of the game and pulled away for a 4-1 triumph.
Connelly ranks sixth on the team so far this season with six points on three goals and as many assists.
