The Lake Forest College men's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with visiting Lawrence University Saturday night. Senior Brendan Sullivan made 36 saves in his final home game as a Forester.
Sullivan preserved the tie by stopping all 15 shots on goal he faced in the third period and all four in overtime. He is now 8-7-5 with a 2.50 goals against average and .907 save percentage on the year.
The Foresters scored the game's first and last goals. Sophomore Jason McAloon converted a power play opportunity for the second straight night at the 14:34 mark of the opening period. His seven goal of the season was assisted by junior Pat Charron and sophomore Charlie Stein.
Lawrence tied the score with a minute remaining in the first period and then took the lead at the 16:50 mark of the second.
Lake Forest sophomore Luke Swardenski netted the game-tying goal at 18:21 in the second. It was the home team's second power play goal of the night and Swardenski's sixth goal overall this year. Freshman Ian Pichel and junior Roberto Caparelli were each credited with an assist.
The Foresters finished the regular season with a 9-11-5 overall record and a 6-10-4 mark in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. Lawrence is now 7-15-3 overall and 6-11-3 in the league.
Lake Forest will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering for the MCHA Quarterfinals next weekend. Saturday night's game will begin at 7:00 and the teams will conclude the series Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
