The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 5-0 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tuesday night in a non-conference contest. It was the season opener for both teams.
The Pointers scored their first goal five minutes and 46 seconds into the contest and led 1-0 after the first period.
The home team added a goal two minutes into the second period, a power play score at 14:01 and another even-strength goal with 84 seconds left on the clock, extending its lead to 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.
Stevens Point's final score was a shorthanded goal with 56 seconds left in the game.
The Foresters were outshot 25-9 on the night.
Lake Forest will open Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play with its home opener against Marian University on Friday, November 2. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. and the teams will face off again at the same time the next night in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
