Sophomore forward Annie Dalton's first goal of the season was the official game-winner in the Forester women's hockey team's 2-1 triumph at Finlandia University on Friday.

Dalton scored at the 14:09 mark of the second period off passes from junior forward Sydney Simone and sophomore defeseman Jordan Trapp. It gave Lake Forest a 2-0 lead but turned out to be the final score of the contest for the visitors.

After a scoreless first period, the Foresters took the lead just 15 seconds into the second on sophomore forward Megan Lyke's second score of the season. She was assisted by a pair of defensemen, junior Amanda Boisjolie and freshman Olyvia Opsahl.

Lake Forest had a 19-5 advantage in shots on goal in the game's first 20 minutes and a 17-2 edge in the second. The Foresters out-shot the home team 12-2 in the final period and junior goaltender Jacque Rogers kept the Lions off the scoreboard until the 16:33 mark, when their final shot on goal of the afternoon snuck past for a goal. Finlandia pulled its goalie with 68 seconds to play but neither team was able to get off a shot the rest of the way.

It was the first victory of the season for Rogers and she is now alone in third place in program history with 28 career wins (against just 12 losses and a tie).

Lake Forest is now 3-2-2 overall this season and 3-0-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Finlandia remains winless after six games, including five league contests. The same two teams will face off again at the Houghton County Arena in Hancock, Michigan, at 2:00 (ET) Saturday afternoon.
