Lake Forest College women's hockey player Olivia Spellmire was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after racking up seven points in the team's series sweep at Aurora University last weekend.
Spellmire, a senior forward, scored three times in the opening period of Saturday night's 13-2 victory. After converting a power play opportunity at the 3:54 mark, she scored again at 8:00 and completed her second career hat trick just eight seconds later.
Lake Forest blanked the Spartans 10-0 on Sunday with Spellmire assisting on the first goal of the afternoon and scoring once in each period. Her second period tally was one of the team's two power play goals on the day and five on the weekend.
Spellmire, who was also named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, is now tied for the team lead with six goals on the season and ranks second on the squad with 11 points.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Spellmire also earned the award once during her sophomore season.
