The Lake Forest College women's basketball team posted an 80-44 victory over Lawrence University Tuesday night. Forester sophomore forwards Sam Cady and K.C. Stralka each scored a career-high 19 points in the contest.
Cady shot 6-for-9 from the floor and made both of her three-point field goal attempts as well as five of six free throws. Stralka was 7-for-9 from the floor, 1-for-2 from beyond the ard, and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. They also combined for nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Senior guard Sam Schuring also reached double figures with 10 points and she added a game-high six assists and five steals.
Lake Forest shot 47.4 percent from the field, more than twice the 23.2 percent posted by the Vikings. The Foresters also out-rebounded their guests 42-37 and committed 15 turnovers while forcing 22.
Lawrence scored the game's first two points but Lake Forest netted the next 11. Leading 13-7, the Foresters rattled off 19 consecutive points in less than a six-minute span and was ahead by at least 20 the rest of the way. The home team scored the final six points of the opening period and led 44-18 at halftime.
The margin reached 30 points early in the second half and 40 on a pair of free throws by junior guard Meagan Schultz with 8:17 remaining. Freshman forward Victoria Wynter scored her first points of the season on two free throws with 3:43 to play and was one of a dozen players on the team to score in the game.
Lake Forest is now 2-11 overall this year and 2-6 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence is 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the league.
The Foresters' next game will be at Monmouth College Saturday evening at 5:00.
