The Lake Forest College women's basketball team posted a convincing 113-86 victory over visiting Knox College on Saturday. The Foresters broke the team record for assists in a game and senior Sam Schuring tied the mark for an individual with 13 while missing a triple-double by just three rebounds.
Schring finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, and 13 assists in just 21 minutes of play. Junior guard Danielle Canulli led all players in the contest with a career-high 33 points, matching the sixth-highest single-game total in team history. She shot 13-for-18 from the field, tied for game-high honors with a career-high nine rebounds, and added three assists. Sophomore guard Michelle Ricolcol was next on the team and match her career-high with 18 points and junior guard Abby Wiedman finished with 14 points. Sophomore forward K.C. Stralka finished with eight points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals and junior guard Jenna Rice chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
The Foresters shot 71 percent from the field in the first half and a season-high 59.7 percent for the game. They made 27 of 37 shots from the foul line and out-rebounded the Prairie Fire 61-44.
Knox had a brief 2-0 advantage but never led again. The Forester lead reached double figures for good on a basket by Wiedman with 9:48 to play in the first half, beginning an 8-0 Lake Forest run that gave the home a 17-point edge. The margin grew to as many as 21 points in the period, which ended with the Foresters leading 60-40.
Fifteen consecutive points by Lake Forest during the second half made the score 91-55 and the lead as many as 40 points at 109-69 with five minutes to play.
Lake Forest is now 1-7 overall this season and 1-3 in Midwest Conference play. Knox fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the league.
The Foresters will continue conference play against visiting Beloit College Tuesday night at 7:30.
