Lake Forest College senior Mark Esshaki joined classmate Jack Lewis on the roster of the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday. Lewis and Travis Hill, another Forester senior, made their debuts at the professional level Friday night.
Esshaki, a defenseman from West Bloomfield, Michigan, tied for fifth among Northern Collegiate Hockey Association freshmen with 18 points on four goals and 14 assists for Lake Forest this season. He and Lewis will suit up for the Norfolk, the East Coast Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, against the Elmira Jackals on Saturday at Norfolk Scope Arena. Lewis scored the Admirals' second goal in a 5-2 victory over the Jackals in his debut Friday night.
Hill also helped his team prevail 5-2 in his debut for the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League on Friday. The Ice Bears defeated the visiting Columbus Cottonmouths and will face them again Saturday night.
The 2016-17 Foresters posted a 16-10-0 overall record and a 12-8-0 mark in NCHA play. The team qualified for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs but was eliminated in the quarterfinals on February 22.
