Lake Forest College men's golfer Ryan Higgins was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of events last weekend.
Higgins and 69 other golfers battled the cold and windy conditions at Friday's Forester Spring Invite. The sophomore tied for 13th in the field with a 79 that included 11 pars. Lake Forest placed fifth at the 12-team tournament.
The Foresters tied for fourth out of a dozen teams at the Wisconsin Lutheran Spring Invitational on Saturday. Higgins finished with a 77, which tied him for 16th place overall. After a slow start, he was just one shot over par over the final 14 holes.
Higgins ranks third on the team this season with a scoring average of 80.07.
SLIAC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Higgins is the second Forester to earn the award this spring.
