The 2022 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday and the Foresters were third in the rankings.
Voting is done by the SLIAC head men's golf coaches. Each coach votes for all 11 members of the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (10 points for first, nine for second, etc.).
Webster University was atop the poll with 109 points and received all but one first place vote. That went to Illinois College, who ranked second with 83 total points. Lake Forest was close behind with 80 points and Knox College was fourth at 77.
The Foresters welcome back a pair of players who finished in the top 10 at the 2021 SLIAC Championships in juniors Jack Dwyer (2nd) and James Johnson (10th). The team placed third at the meet behind Webster and Knox.
Eighth-year head coach Brian Bruha's team played six events in the fall and will begin the spring portion of the schedule at the Knox Spring Invite March 26-27. Lake Forest will play in five other tournaments, including the Forester Spring Invite on April 15, before traveling to Louisville, Kentucky, for the SLIAC Championships April 25-26. The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships May 10-13.
