The Lake Forest College men's golf team hosted the annual Forester Spring Invite on Friday and placed 5th and 11th out of 13 teams at the event. The tournament was held on the 6.816-yard par-72 course at White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
The hosts' top team was led by junior Connor Lindley and sophomore Ryan Higgins with rounds of 77 and 79, respectively. They were two of just 16 golfers in the 70-player field to finish in the 70s on a very cold and windy day. Lindley ranked third in the field with a dozen pars, played the four par-5's on the course in 1-under, and tied for eighth overall. Higgins had 11 pars and tied for 13th place.
Forester junior Jack Dwyer's 82 included a pair of birdies and tied him for 23rd place. Fellow junior Anthony Scaletta, sophomore Marty Swab, and freshman Luke Duffer were next on the team and tied-for-31st overall with matching rounds of 84.
Aurora University was the team champion with a four-man score of 304, nine shots better than runner-up Wisconsin Lutheran College. Lake Forest's teams posted rounds of 323 and 346.
The Foresters will be back in action on Saturday at the Wisconsin Lutheran Spring Invitational. The event will be held at Morningstar Golf Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
