The Lake Forest College men's golf team placed fifth at the WLC (Wisconsin Lutheran College) Fall Invitational over the weekend.
Leading the Foresters was freshman Chris Petri, who played Saturday's opening round in even par and posted a six-over 78 on Sunday. Four of his five birdies on the weekend were carded on the back nine, where he was three shots under par in his two rounds combined. Petri's score of 150 tied him for eighth place out of 75 players in the tournament.
Junior James Johnson was next on the team and tied-for-17th overall with a two-day total of 153 while classmate Jack Dwyer was tied-for-25th at 155. Johnson led Lake Forest with six birdies on the weekend while Dwyer finished with four.
Forester junior Anthony Scaletta, sophomore Marty Swab, and freshman Luke Duffer each needed 81 shots to complete their opening rounds on Saturday. Swab and Duffer factored into the team's scoring on Sunday with scores of 83 and 84, respectively.
With five players scoring instead of the traditional four, Lake Forest finished with a two-day score of 787. Luther College won the tournament at 746, eight shots better than runner-up Bryant and Stratton College.
The Foresters will not compete next weekend but will return to action on Monday, September 27, at the Illinois/Wisconsin Challenge at Brightondale Golf Links in Kansasville, Wisconsin.
