The Lake Forest College volleyball team defeated host Luther College and Grinnell College in four sets on Sunday at the ACM Tournament. Forester freshman Brittany Avonts had 10 blocks to go along with a team-high 32 kills on the day.
Avonts pounded out 15 kills and added four aces and five blocks in the Foresters' 27-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18 triumph over Luther. She committed just one attack error in 30 attempts for a .467 hitting percentage in the match. Sophomore Erin Sully actually led the team with 17 kills and classmate Bailey Everhart had eight kills and five blocks. Junior Torie Pasiewicz recorded 26 assists and three aces while sophomore Brianne Honda and junior Kaitlyn Ladao set career-highs with 24 and 17 digs, respectively.
Avonts racked up 17 kills, posted a .500 hitting percentage, and recorded five more blocks in a 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-17 victory against Grinnell. Sully was next with 13 kills and, with 14 digs, recorded her fourth double-double of the year. She also served up five aces. Pasiewicz led the team again with 22 assists and senior Victoria Drasler added 13 assists and 11 digs.
Sully, who finished the weekend with 50 kills, 49 digs, and eight aces, was named to the 12-member All-Tournament Team.
Lake Forest is now 5-7 on the season. Luther fell to 5-6 and Grinnell to 0-14.
The Foresters will travel to Concordia University Chicago for next Saturday's Fall Invitational. Lake Forest will face Dominican University at 10:00 a.m. and North Park University at 2:00 in the afternoon.
