The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 26-24, 25-20, 25-19 by Wheaton College Tuesday night in the Foresters' first home match of the season. Both teams are now 2-3 on the year.
Junior Sarah House led the home team with 10 kills in just 18 attempts. Sophomore Torie Pasiewicz recorded 19 of the Foresters' 33 assists on the night and also led the squad with eight digs.
Lake Forest rattled off six straight points to take the lead in the first set and had two chances at set point but was unable to convert. Wheaton won four consecutive points to take the set 26-24.
The Thunder held a small lead for most of the second set but the Foresters managed to grab a one-point advantage at 16-15. Wheaton, however, outscored the home team 10-4 the rest of the way to win the set.
The Foresters led by as many as five points in the third set but their 11-6 lead turned into a 16-11 deficit after a 10-0 run by the Thunder. Lake Forest got no closer than four points the rest of the way as Wheaton won the set and the match.
Lake Forest will host the annual Red & Black Triangular on Saturday and take on North Central College in the first match of the day at 10:00 a.m. North Central and Benedictine University will play at noon and the Foresters will face Benedictine at 2:00 in the afternoon.
