The Forester women's tennis team traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for Spring Break and started the week with a 7-2 victory over Nazareth College Monday morning. Senior Lucy-George Cooper was one of three Lake Forest players to win in both singles and doubles.
Cooper's 6-4, 6-4 triumph at #5 singles followed a 6-1, 6-0 win by sophomore Christi Valicenti at #2 and a 6-0, 6-3 victory by freshman Lexi Chionis at #3. After dropping the first set 6-1, sophomore Emily Rabin prevailed 6-3 in the second and took the supertiebreaker 10-6. Senior Elina Shapiro also went the distance at #4, winning 5-7, 6-3, (10-7) to close out singles play and clinch the Forester victory.
Cooper and sophomore Sarah Paulson posted an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles and Valicenti and Chionis won by the same score at #1.
Lake Forest is now 13-1 on the season, matching the single-season program record win total set in 1999 and matched last year. Nazareth fell to 8-6.
The Foresters will take on Gettysburg College at 3:00 (ET) Tuesday afternoon.
