The Lake Forest College women's tennis team placed seventh at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawks Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Grace Dowling led the Foresters with a third-place finish in the #2 singles flight.
Dowling prevailed 7-5, 6-2 in her first round match before dropping a tough 4-6, 6-3, (14-12) decision to the eventual champion in the semifinals. She won the third place match 6-2, 6-3.
Forester freshman Lexi Chionis was defeated in her first round match at #1 singles but routed her opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the consolation bracket. A 6-4, 4-6, (10-7) loss in her next match to place sixth in the bracket.
After a pair of defeated, junior Gracie Mullins prevailed 6-3, 6-2 to claim seventh place at #3 singles.
Senior Aimee Fadden and freshman Marisa Guggenheim won the seventh-place match at #1 doubles and sophomore Emily Rabin and freshman Brittany Khayet accomplished the same feat at #3.
The Foresters will play a pair of home matches next Saturday when they host Robert Morris University at 8:30 a.m. and St. Norbert College at 4:30 in the afternoon.
