The Lake Forest College women's tennis team defeated North Central College 7-2 and Ripon College 9-0 at home on Saturday. Forester freshman Marisa Guggenheim won all four of her matches on the day.
Guggenheim and senior Aimee Fadden edged out their North Central counterparts 9-7 at #3 doubles to start the day. Sophomores Sarah Paulson and Christi Valicenti won by the same score at #1 and sophomore Grace Dowling and junior Gracie Mullins prevailed 8-2 at #2.
Freshman Lexi Chionis defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 at #4 singles to pull the Foresters to within a point of clinching the match. After the Cardinals won points at #6 and #1, Valicenti clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at #2. Dowling blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #3 and Guggenheim closed things out with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #5.
North Central defeated Ripon College 9-0 in the second match of the day.
Fadden and Guggenheim won 8-0 at #3 doubles against the Red Hawks while Dowling and Mullins were prevailing by the same score at #2. Valicenti teamed with Chionis for a, 8-1 victory at #1.
Senoir Lucy-George Cooper did not lose a game in her 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles and Fadden was nearly as dominating in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #4. Freshman Brittany Khayet prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at #5 and senior Elina Shapiro matched Fadden's 6-1, 6-0 result at #3. Chionis finished off a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the top spot in the lineup and Guggenheim won 6-1, 6-2 for her fourth triumph of the day.
Lake Forest is now 5-0 and North Central 5-2 on the season. Ripon fell to 1-9.
The Foresters will host Lawrence University Sunday at noon.
