Senior Allie Girard finished third as an individual and led the Lake Forest College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Midwest Conference Championships over the weekend.
Girard's 82 in Sunday's third and final round was the 36-player field's fourth-best score of the day. With an 84 on Friday and an 80 on Saturday, her three-day score of 246 was 25 shots behind the leader, 14 out of second place, and 13 strokes ahead of fourth. It was also 22 shots better than the previous program record.
Sophomore Kalay Kotasek had Lake Forest's second-best score on Sunday with an 85. She was 19th overall at 285. Freshman Yuka Kawata recorded her best round of the year with a 93 and finished 29th in the field with a three-day score of 305. Freshman Cece Cruz and sophomore Anhayte Guajardo posted matching scores 96 on Sunday and placed 16th and 20th, respectively, on the weekend.
The Foresters' 356 on Sunday was their best round of the weekend and their 1,096 for the tournament was two strokes behind runner-up Monmouth College and two ahead of fourth-place Illinois College. The three-day total was also a 62-shot improvement from last year. Grinnell won the event with a league record 981.
Lake Forest will compete in additional events in the spring.
