Lake Forest College men's tennis players Jordan Stoler and John Snider celebrated Senior Day with a combined 6-0 record as their team swept Knox College and Illinois College 9-0 at home on Saturday.
Snider and Stoler each started the day with an 8-0 victory in doubles against Knox. Snider teamed up with sophomore Dan Pivonka at #1 and Stoler with junior Dragan Trivanovic at #3. Freshman Trevor Allen and sophomore Nick Rehm added an 8-1 triumph at #2, giving the home team a 3-0 lead going into singles play.
Pivonka did not lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 win at #1 singles, nor did Allen at #2 or freshman Joe Bove at #6. The other three Foresters dropped just four games combined with Snider prevailing 6-1, 6-0 at #3, Trivanovic 6-0, 6-2 at #4, and Rehm 6-0, 6-1 at #5.
Stoler, Snider, and their parents took part in a pre-match ceremony before the team's afternoon match against Illinois College.
The Blueboys had just five players so Lake Forest won by forfeit at #3 doubles. Allen and Rehm blanked their opponents 8-0 at #2 and Pivonka and Snider came out on top of an 8-5 decision at #1 to finish off another doubles sweep.
Another forfeit at #6 singles bought the Foresters within a point of clinching the match and Stoler provided that point with his 6-0, 6-0 win at #5. Bove also won every game at #4, Snider at #3, and Allen at #2. Pivonka took the first set 6-1 before the Blueboys top player retired.
The victories raised Lake Forest's overall record to 14-7 and Midwest Conference mark to 7-1. The Foresters also secured a spot in next Friday's four-team MWC Championship Tournament. Knox fell to 2-19 overall and 2-6 in the league while Illinois College finished the day 2-15 overall and 1-8 in the conference.
Lake Forest will close out the regular season at home against Monmouth College Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
