Lake Forest College men's tennis player John Snider was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance during the team's Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida.
Snider, a senior and the Foresters #3 singles player, started the week by teaming up with freshman Trevor Allen on an 8-2 victory at #2 doubles in Monday's 6-3 loss to Oglethorpe University, the 13th-ranked team in the South Atlantic Region. His 7-5, 6-2 loss in singles later in the match turned out to be his only defeat of the week.
The Foresters blanked Wittenberg University 9-0 on Tuesday. Snider and sophomore Dan Pivonka won 8-5 at #1 doubles and he also came out on top of a 6-0, 6-3 decision in singles.
Snider continued to roll in an 8-1 victory over Juniata College on Wednesday, prevailing 8-1 with Pivonka at the top spot in the doubles lineup and winning 6-2, 7-5 in singles.
Lake Forest fell 5-4 to Ursinus on Thursday to close out the trip. Snider and Pivonka edged out the Bears' top doubles team 9-8 (7-4) and Snider defeated his counterpart at #3 singles 6-1, 6-2.
After posting a 7-1 record in singles and doubles combined on the week, Snider ranks fifth in program history with 54 career singles victories and seventh with 44 doubles wins. His 98 triumphs overall are also the seventh-highest total in team annals.
