Select members of the Lake Forest College men's tennis team were in action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, over the weekend. Senior John Snider was one of four Foresters to make the trip.
Snider and freshman Trevor Allen competed in the Open Singles division. Allen upset the event's #23 seed 7-5, 6-0 while Snider was defeated 6-1 in both sets by the #17 seed. Allen was knocked off in the second round and Snider fell in a tiebreaker in the consolation bracket.
Allen and Snider also teamed up to play in the Open Doubles division, where they were defeated 8-2 in round one by the #3 seed. They blanked a team from North Central College 8-0 in the first round of the consolation bracket before falling again in round two.
Freshmen Karl Fehn and Joe Bove were among 64 players in the St. Louis Collegiate Singles bracket. Fehn won 6-2, 6-2 in the first round before falling 6-1, 6-1 to the #4 seed in round two. Bove was defeated in the opening round but took both sets 6-3 in round one of the consolation bracket. He was edged out 7-6, 6-4 in his next match.
Fehn and Bove prevailed 8-5 to begin play in the St. Louis Collegiate Doubles bracket. They were then defeated by the same score in round two.
The ITA Regional Tournament was the only event of the fall semester for the Forester men, who will open the spring portion of their schedule against Kalamazoo College on February 6.
