Lake Forest College men's hockey player Leo Podolsky was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in a pair of victories over the College of St. Scholastica, the nation's 12th-ranked team, over the weekend.
Podolsky, a junior goaltender, made 36 saves, including 17 in the second period, in a 1-0 triumph over the Saints Friday night. It was his second shutout in the last three games and the fourth of his career.
Lake Forest also defeated St. Scholastica 3-1 on Saturday and Podolsky turned away 25 of 26 shots on goal in the contest.
Podolsky is now 6-2-2 on the season and he ranks seventh in the nation with a .950 save percentage and 13th with a goals against average of 1.63.
