Forester Cross Country Teams Earn Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced its All-Academic Teams and Athletes and both Lake Forest squads, as well as junior Madeline Morland, were recognized.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Overall, there were 137 different NCAA Division III men's programs and 163 women's teams who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. The Lake Forest men boasted a 3.665 GPA while the women were at 3.481. Both Forester teams also earned the honor in 2018 and the women were recognized in 2016 and 2017.

Morland, a biology major, was one of 203 NCAA Division III women listed. She joins Yaneli Guajardo (2018), Jonathan Stern (2016, 2017), and Cassie Lira (2016) as individual Foresters to make the list.
