Forester cross country will return to action in 2021 and Lake Forest College released the team's schedule on Monday.
The season opener will be the Elmhurst Early Bird Invitational on Friday, September 3. It will be Lake Forest's first meet in 657 days.
The following friday's event will be the annual Forester Invitational, which will be held at at Foss Park Golf Course in nearby North Chicago. It will be the team's only home meet of the season.
After competing in Wheaton College's Gil Dodds Invitational (September 18) for the first time since 2016, Lake Forest will continue the program's attendance at Augustana College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on October 1 and the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on October 16. Augustana and Oshkosh have combined to host 13 of the last 14 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meets.
The Foresters' most important meet of the year is the Midwest Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Ripon College on October 30. The Lake Forest women placed fifth and the men seventh at the last conference meet in 2019.
The regional meet is on November 13 and the NCAA Division III Championships are a week later.
Although he has been at the helm of the cross country program since February of 2020, this season will be the first with the Foresters for head coach Jim Akita.
