The Lake Forest College women's cross country team finished fourth and the men eighth at Friday's season-opening Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational.

Junior Madeline Morland led the Forester women and placed fourth overall with a 4-kilometer times of 15:28. Graduate student Audrey Paglia was next on the squad and her time of 16:22 was good for 10th place in the 112-runner field. Freshman Delfina Jorgensen finished just outside the top half, placing 58th in 18:24.

The Forester women finished with 152 points, edging out College of DuPage for fourth place by just four points but finishing well back of third place Carthage College's 79. Elmhurst won the meet with just 32 points.

Lake Forest's men's team was paced by senior Christian Reyes, who completed the 6-kilometer course in 21:21, just four seconds faster than Forester freshman Michael Kurtz. They were 51st and 54th, respectively, out of 155 runners in the race. Senior Julián Cano was the team's third runner in 88th place overall with a time of 22:29.

North Central College won the men's competition with a nearly perfect score of 18 points. Teams placing 6th through 11th were separated by just 48 points and the Foresters were eighth with 235.

The next meet on Lake Forest's schedule is next Friday's Forester Invitational, which will be held at Foss Park Golf Course in nearby North Chicago. It will start at 4:30 p.m.
