Lake Forest Competes Short-Handed at Gil Dodds Invitational

Lake Forest Competes Short-Handed at Gil Dodds Invitational

Five members of the Forester men's cross country team and three from the women's squad turned in times at Wheaton College's Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Madeline Morland was Lake Forest's top runner at the meet, placing 10th out of 187 finishers in the women's 6-kilometer race. Her time of 23:16.5 ranks 19th in program history. Graduate student Audrey Paglia was next on the team and 48th overall at 25:00.8 and freshman Delfina Jorgensen improved by more than three minutes from last week, crossing the line in 27:38.7

Senior Christian Reyes, the Foresters' top runner on the men's side, was unable to finish the race due to an injury he sustained on the course so the team was led by freshman Michael Kurtz. His 8-kilometer time of 29:33.4 was good for 148th in the 228-runner race while senior Julián Cano was 154th in 29:48.9.

The University of Chicago finished first in the women's team standings and North Central College won the men's competition.

The Foresters's next meet will be Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational on Saturday, October 9.
