The Midwest Lacrosse Conference announced its end-of-season awards on Friday and eight members of the Forester program were mentioned.
Freshman defenseman Conor Murphy was Lake Forest's lone First Team All-MLC player. Often tasked with marking the other team's top offensive threat, Murphy earned MLC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this spring. His 15 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls during conference play rank among the top 10 in the league despite one of the Foresters' MLC games being canceled.
Sophomore attacker John Casey and freshman midfielder Jack Langworthy were Second Team All-MLC selections. Casey was the team's leading scorer all season and finished tied for 10th in the league with 18 points on 13 goals and 5 assists in the team's five conference games. He was also among the top 20 with 18 ground balls. Langworthy tied for 17th in the MLC with 13 points on 8 goals and 5 assists in league play. He registered a four-goal game against Monmouth College on April 14.
Lake Forest also had three freshmen on the Honorable Mention All-MLC list in attacker Luke Bowers, shortstick Connor Tartaglione, and defenseman Henry Baizer. Bowers tied for eighth in the league with eight assists and added five goals for 13 points in five conference games. Tartaglione and Baizer combined for 18 ground balls and seven caused turnovers and helped the Foresters rank second in the MLC in fewest goals allowed.
Each team has a representative on the MLC All-Sportsmanship list and freshman Caden Elias was selected for the Foresters.
The 2022 season was Lake Forest's first with varsity men's lacrosse since 1994. After leading his team to a runner-up finish in the standings at 5-1 in conference play, the Foresters' Phil Dodson was named MLC Co-Coach of the Year.
