The Midwest Lacrosse Conference released its 2022 Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday and Lake Forest College, which is fielding a team for the first time since 1994, is third in the rankings.
Voting is done by the MLC head coaches. Each coach votes for the other six schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (six points for first, five for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.
With 24 points, the Foresters trailed only top-ranked University of Dubuque (34) and defending league champion University of Northwestern (29). Dubuque received four of the seven first-place votes, Northwestern two, and fourth-place Monmouth College the other.
Under head coach Phil Dodson, the Foresters will officially open the season against Beloit College on February 26 and are scheduled to play seven more non-conference games in March. The first of the Foresters' six league games will be at Northland College on April 2 and the last at Northwestern on April 30.
The top four teams in the league will qualify for the MLC Tournament with the semifinals on May 4 and the final on May 7.
