The Forester men's lacrosse team led 6-4 late in the first half before falling 17-6 at Carthage College on Saturday.

Lake Forest sophomore John Casey scored the first two goals of the contest, giving the visitors the lead at 11:58 and adding to it at 10:05. He leads the team with nine goals and a dozen points on the young season.

After Carthage came back to tie the score, the Foresters regained the lead with 26 seconds left in the period on freshman Chas Dean's first career goal.

The Lake Forest lead was back to two when freshman Bode Rubright netted his first collegiate goal less than a minute into the second quarter.

As they did in the opening period, the Firebirds scored back-to-back goals and tied the score at four with 6:52 remaining in the half.

Freshman Jack Langworthy's first goal as a Forester put the visitors back on top and, once again, they led by two on Dean's second of the afternoon with 3:23 on the clock.

Unfortunately for the Foresters, they were done scoring for the day. The home team tied the score just before halftime before racking up five goals in the third quarter and six in the fourth.

Freshman Conor Murphy led Lake Forest with four ground balls while classmate Henry Baizer caused a pair of turnovers.

The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 1-2 while Carthage improved to 3-0.

Lake Forest will travel over Spring break and play at Hanover College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. (ET).
