The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2020-21 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams on Thursday and Lake Forest College men's hockey player Boyd DiClemente was listed for the second year in a row.
In addition to ice hockey, the Men's At-Large Division includes fencing, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. Due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on many college sports, career statistics were used to select this year's honorees.
DiClemente was one of a dozen NCAA Division III student-athletes selected in District 7, which includes schools located in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The senior goaltender posted a .951 save percentage in two games before suffering a season-ending injury in 2020-21. DiClemente finished his career with an 18-7-4 record and ranked second in team history with a .920 save percentage and 2.30 goals against average. In 2019-20 he broke the single-season school record for victories while leading the Foresters to the program's first NCAA Division III Tournament berth in 29 years.
Majoring in economics, DiClemente graduated in May with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. He was named to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team each of the last three years and earned All American Scholar accolades from the American Hockey Coaches Association in 2020.
DiClemente will now appear on the Academic All-America® ballot with that team scheduled to be announced on August 4.
