Freshman Bobby Barrett scored his first collegiate goal to give Lake Forest an early 1-0 lead but the Foresters could not hold on in a 4-1 loss to 10th-ranked Adrian on Friday night at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
Barrett's power play goal at 8:09 of the first period put the Foresters on the board. Mike Violette and Charlie Stein assisted on the goal that went through Adrian goalie Scott Shackell's pads. Adrian tied the game at 15:37 on a goal by Zach Graham.
The two teams played through a scoreless second period until Adrian (14-5-1, 12-2-1 MCHA) took a 2-1 lead at 8:23 of the third on a goal by Chris Stansik. The Bulldogs, who lead the MCHA in standings, then added insurance goals at 13:19 and 15:28 for a 4-1 victory.
Junior goalie Brendan Sullivan stopped 44 of 49 shots for the Foresters (3-17, 3-12 MCHA), who meet Adrian again on Saturday at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse at 2:30 p.m.
Adrian goalie Scott Shackell made 27 saves on 28 shots.
