Trailing 4-1 five minutes into the third period, Lake Forest rallied with two power play goals from Roberto Caperelli (pictured) to cut the lead to 4-3. But, the Foresters, who played with an extra skater for the last 1:04, could not score the equalizer in a 4-3 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
Capparelli's second goal of the game, which cut the MSOE lead to 4-3 at 17:21 of the third period, came with the Foresters (1-9-0, 1-7-0 MCHA) on the power play. Capparelli tipped in a shot from Ben Finney. Thomas Bark also assisted on the goal.
Capparelli's first goal of the game, which was also on the power play, was at 6:14 of the third period with the Foresters on the power play. Capparelli's wrist shot from the point went through traffic and into the goal for a 4-2 MSOE lead.
MSOE (8-2-0, 7-1-0 MCHA) scored the first goal of the game at 10:49 of the first period before Lake Forest came back and tied the game at 14:04. Bark scored his third goal of the season from Anthony Martinez and Luke Swardenski.
The Raiders then rattled off two straight goals at 17:37 and 19:31 of the first period for a 3-1 lead going into the second frame.
The two teams battled through a scoreless second period with Lake Forest goalie Austin Erney making 14 saves and MSOE goalie Connor Toomey stopping 14 shots.
The Foresters are off until Friday, Dec. 30 when they travel to Amherst, Mass. for a 3 p.m. (CST) game.
