A day after defeating Concordia University Wisconsin 6-3, the Forester men's hockey team fell 5-2 to the Falcons at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on Saturday. Lake Forest sophomore Roberto Caparelli scored his first career goal in the loss.
Caparelli's goal was assisted by freshman Anthony Martinez and trimmed Concordia Wisconsin's lead to 4-2 at the 15:41 mark of the third period. The Falcon's, however, scored an empty net goal at 18:50 to secure the victory.
The score was 1-1 after 40 minutes of play. The home team took the early lead on a power play goal just 33 seconds into the contest. The Foresters tied the score just 51 seconds into the second stanza on sophomore Craig McDowell's first goal of the year. McDowell was assisted by junior Thomas Bark.
Lake Forest had a 27-26 edge in shots on goal in the game but was out-shot 11-8 in the final period.
The Foresters fell to 1-3-0 overall and in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Falcons are now 1-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league.
Lake Forest will travel to Adrian College next weekend and face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 (EST) Friday night and 3:00 the following afternoon.
