The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 4-3 at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, on Monday. Freshman Luke Swardenski scored his first career goal for the Foresters.
Swardenski's goal was unassisted and occurred just 51 seconds into the second period.
Trinity started the scoring with a power play goal at 7:27 in the first period. The home team also scored with 82 seconds left in the period and led 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
The Bantams answered Swardenski's score with one of their own at 15:21 in the second and extended their lead to 4-1 on a power play goal at 12:48 in the third.
Lake Forest's comeback effort began with a power play score by junior Dave Sharpe at 18:11. Sharpe's second goal of the season was assisted by freshman Charlie Stein and junior Thomas Bark. The Foresters pulled their goaltender with 90 seconds to play and pulled to within one on freshman Jason McAloon's team-high sixth score of the year at 19:02. Bark and Sharpe assisted on the play.
The Foresters were unable to tie the score, however, and fell to 1-11-0 on the season. Trinity raised its record to 4-5-0.
Lake Forest will conclude its three-game trip Wednesday afternoon at Salve Regina University. The game will begin at 1:00 (EST).
