The Lake Forest College women's hockey team won 6-0 at Marian
University Friday night (January 22). The Foresters are now 12-2-2
overall this season and 6-1-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey
Association play. Marian fell to 2-12-0 overall and 1-6-0 in league
play.
The first goal of the game was scored on the power play by Forester
sophomore Kim Herring
(Dover, N.H./Groton School). It was her school record-tying 22nd
goal of the season and gave her a program record 32nd points of
2009-10. The goal was assisted by junior Melissa
Kravich (Wilmette, Ill./Gustavus Adolphus College) three
minutes and 25 seconds into the contest.
Sophomore Mira
Trebilcock (South Porcupine, Ontario/Trinity College School)
added her fourth goal of the year with just 29 seconds remaining in
the period. She was assisted by junior Sam Herron
(Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda).
The Foresters struck three more times late in the second period.
Freshman Rosy
Fujimoto () started the run at 15:49 off assists from
Trebilcock and freshman Denise Perez
(San Jose, Calif./Minnesota Thoroughbreds). Perez then netted an
unassisted goal , her fourth of the season, just 97 seconds later.
Fujimoto converted a power play opportunity with just five seconds
left in the period with senior Courtney
Bean (Peoria, Ill./Team Illinois) and sophomore Molly
Wallner (Chatham, Ill./Chicago Young Americans) each recording
an assist.
The final goal of the contest also came off Fujimoto's stick at the
10:56 mark of the third period. The score was assisted by Herring,
who raised her school record point total to 33, and gave Fujimoto
her first career hat trick and six goals on the season.
Lake Forest junior goaltender Brittany
Lemke (St. Charles, Ill./St. Mary's University) needed just
seven saves to record her first shutout of the season and the third
of her career. She is now 5-1-0 this year with a 1.27 goals against
average and .917 save percentage. The Foresters put 44 shots on
goal in the contest.
The same two teams will face off again at Marian tomorrow afternoon
at 12:30.
