The Forester women's hockey team posted a 3-0 victory at Marian
University on Saturday (January 23) to raise its overall record on
the season to 13-2-2 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association
mark to 7-1-2. The Sabres fell to 2-13-0 overall and 1-7-0 in
league play.
Lake Forest junior Sam Herron
(Clinton Township, Mich./Victory Honda) led off the scoring with an
unassisted goal at the 10:14 mark of the opening period. It was her
fourth goal of the year. Classmate Lynn Switaj
(Avon Lake, Ohio/Ohio Flames) then followed with her sixth score of
the season at 12:53. She was assisted by freshman Rosy
Fujimoto (Wasilla, Alaska/Team Alaska) and sophomore Kim Herring
(Dover, N.H./Groton School).
The Foresters netted the final goal of the contest with just 24
seconds to play in the second period. The power play score was
freshman Denise Perez'
(San Jose, Calif./Minnesota Thoroughbreds) fifth of 2009-10 and was
assisted by Fujimoto and sophomore Molly
Wallner (Chatham, Ill./Chicago Young Americans). Fujimoto, who
recorded her first career hat trick on Friday, finished the weekend
with five points.
Lake Forest junior goaltender Brittany
Lemke (St. Charles, Ill./St. Mary's University) made eight
saves during the first period and 14 in the contest. Her second
shutout in as many games lowered her goals against average to
1.08.
The Foresters will host UW-Eau Claire twice next weekend (January
30-31). The tams will faceoff at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and at the
same time on Sunday.
