Foresters Defeat Milwaukee School of Engineering 66-50

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team posted a 66-50 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering at home Wednesday night. Senior forward Tabytha Harvey led the Foresters with 14 points and eight rebounds in the contest.
Harvey is third Lake Forest player in as many contests to lead the team in scoring. She shot 7-for-13 from the field and was one of four Foresters with three assists.
Lake Forest sophomore guard Alex Messacar and freshman guard/forward Gina Ambrose set career-highs with a dozen points apiece. They both knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the contest.
Senior guards Emily Weber and Aimee Lockwood led the Forester with three steals apiece. Weber also had three assists and Lockwood matched her career-high with nine points.
Lake Forest shot 43.5 percent from the field and the Raiders finished at 41.3 percent. The home team had a 39-28 edge in rebounds and committed just 15 turnovers while forcing 23.
The Foresters scored 11 points in a row early in the first half. After a basket by the Raiders, Ambrose connected twice from three-point range to give Lake Forest a 22-6 advantage. The margin reached as many as 17 points (34-17) later in the opening period and the Foresters led 38-25 at halftime.
M.S.O.E. pulled back to within nine points (59-50) in the final minutes but would get no closer. Messacar made four free throws and a three-pointer at the shot clock buzzer in the final minute to seal the victory.
The Raiders fell to 1-1 on the season Lake Forest is now 2-1 and will begin Midwest Conference play on December 3 at Carroll University. The game will begin at 5:00 and a live video webcast will be available at www.pennatlantic.com.
