The Forester women's basketball team defeated visiting Rockford College 71-50 on Saturday in the final game of the 2010 Forester Tip-Off Tournament. All 15 Lake Forest players appeared in the game and 11 scored at least one point.
Forester sophomore forward Liz Radtke led all players in the contest with a career-high 17 points. Her previous career-best was 12, set Friday night against Dominican. Radtke shot 6-for-8 from the field and added six rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Sophomore guard Alex Messacar and senior forward Tabytha Harvey chipped in with a dozen points apiece for the Foresters. Nine of Messacar's points came from beyond the arc, where she shot 3-for-6 in the contest. Harvey matched Radtke for team-high honors with six rebounds.
Sophomore guard Sam Schuring dished out a game-high six assists and added two of the Foresters' 15 steals. Senior guard Aimee Lockwood led the home team with three steals.
Lake Forest shot 44.4 percent from the field and 7-for-22 from three-point range but made just half of 16 free throws. Rockford connected on just 32 percent of field goal attempts, two of five three-pointers, and 16 of 24 foul shots. The Foresters were out-rebounded 42-36 but committed just 13 turnovers while forcing 23.
A 14-0 first half run by Lake Forest turned a six-point deficit into a 23-15 advantage. The Forester lead was 35-26 at halftime.
The home team scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to extend the lead to 23 points with seven-and-a-half minutes to play. The Regents scored the next four points but got no closer.
Radtke and Forester senior guard Sherrie Dubinski, who led the team with 15 points on Friday, were named to the Forester Tip-Off All-Tournament Team.
Lake Forest will play it's final non-conference home game of the regular season next Wednesday night against Milwaukee School of Engineering. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. (Live stats | Video)
